Tragic weekend on N3 as probe gets underway into deadly crashes

Investigations are underway after three horrific crashes claimed scores of lives on the country's roads this weekend.
Crashes on the N3 left over 30 people dead.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation says most of them happened in the early hours of the morning.
Spokesperson Simon Zwane says 10 people were killed after a bus drove into a bridge pillar on the N3 in Grootvlei, Mpumalanga on Sunday morning.

"A bus went off the road and killed 10 people and about 57 other people injured. What follows was another one that happened on the N3 outside Pietermaritzburg, which also left 16 people dead."
At least six people died and 60 others were injured after a bus plunged off a bridge near the N3 De Hoek Toll Plaza in Heidelberg, Gauteng, yesterday morning.
Zwane says it was a tragic weekend for traffic officers.
"These incidents are all being investigated to determine exactly what the causes were."
