Tourism industry may never fully recover, says Ramaphosa
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the hard-hit tourism sector may never fully recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown restrictions.

He answered questions during a virtual National Assembly meeting on Thursday – after announcing on Wednesday night, that level 3 restrictions would be relaxed for some businesses.
Restaurants will soon find out when they can start serving meals to customers at tables.

Personal care services – like hair salons, cinemas, theatres and casinos will also reopen their doors.
Ramaphosa says some sections of the economy are on their knees.
"Tourism is one of those sectors that have been negatively affected to a point where a number of companies in the tourism field may not survive or may not come back.
"Our task is to see how we can help the operators of those entities in tourism, how we can support those companies and how we can protect the workers and jobs."
