The annual aQuelle Tour Durban is in town with cyclists able to participate in 3 different categories. All categories start and finish at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium. Cyclists taking part in the main race will cover a distance of 105 kilometres. Event organisers are expecting a successful day on the road with favourable weather conditions forecast.

Spokesperson, Dave Macleod, says all road closures are in place and preparations with Metro Police have gone well. He is appealing to residents to be patient due to the road closures in place.

"There has been another great commitment from Durban Metro police to make sure that all those key intersections are properly policed. The commitment from race organisers is that as soon as the roads are cleared they will be reopen, even if that happens to be ahead of scheduled time of the reopening," he said.

"From Pinetown going down to the Umgeni interchange and onto the road that heads up to the M4 to the Umdloti turning point and back. That is the road that is used to all three of the races," McLeod said.

Edwin Swales, Inanda Road and Riverside Road are all affected.
