Toddler among 20 victims of Joburg building fire

The death toll from
Thursday morning's fire at a five-storey building in Johannesburg has
climbed.

"We managed to recover 20 bodies so far, 40 people have been treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries, and they were transported to various healthcare facilities," said Joburg EMS spokesperson Robert Muluadzi.
He said a one-year-old child was among the victims.
Firefighters have been battling the flames since the early hours of the morning,
"So far the fire has been extinguished we are doing what we call now search and recovery and also dampening down hot spots."
