Thunderstorms in store for week ahead in KZN

The South African Weather Service issued a weather warning for KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.
The weather service says there'll be scattered showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon, with a possibility of it becoming severe.
Forecaster Stacey Colborne says there'll also be hail, strong winds and heavy rains.
"We are expecting partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with a 60 percent chance of showers and thundershowers over the province today [Tuesday].
"We do have a warning out for severe thunderstorm activity over the western and northern parts of KZN, which would include the Pietermaritzburg area, at the moment, there is activity in the area, as far south as Kokstad as far north as Ulundi.
"Looking ahead for the rest of the week, you can expect isolated showers and thundershowers over the province for the next three to four days. Partly cloudy conditions over the province. Temperature-wise it should be cool to warm."
The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KZN has urged residents to be cautious.
"MEC Sipho Hlomuka has called upon residents to take all the necessary precautions to stay safe during the severe thunderstorms that are forecast for the province from this afternoon going into the evening," it said.
"According to the warning communities within the districts of uMgungundlovu, Harry Gwala, uMzinyathi, uThukela, Zululand, Amajuba, Ilembe and King Cetshwayo.
"MEC Hlomuka has appealed to residents who reside in low lying areas to seek shelter on higher ground should their situation deteriorate.”
Disaster management services have been placed on high alert across the province and are monitoring areas prone to flooding."
