Three Phoenix unrest murder suspects now want bail

Two brothers and a third man who are facing murder and attempted charges linked to the violence in Phoenix during the unrest have decided to continue with their bail application.

Dylan Govender, Ned Govender, and Jeetendra Jaikissoon had previously abandoned their bid for bail.
They were in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
National Prosecution Authority in KZN spokesperson Natasha Kara says the case has been postponed to Friday for the bail application.
"Via their legal representative, they advised the court that they want to continue their bail application.
"The matter was postponed to 17 September 2021 for continuation of their application to be released on bail."
During the riots in July, At least 36 people were killed in Phoenix, north of Durban in alleged vigilante attacks.
