Three men handed life sentences for Kwandengezi murders

Three men have been slapped with life sentences for killing four people over a goat in Pinetown.

The victims were murdered in a vigilante attack three years ago.
KZN SAPS's Nqobile Gwala says they had been accused of stealing a goat.
"On 26 September 2020, Sthembiso Sthole, who was 24 years old, Thabani Hlengwa, Simphiwe Khanyile, and Nhlanhla Hlange were shot and killed at a sports ground at Kwandengezi.
"The deceased were killed in the presence of the community member after being accused of stealing a goat.
"Charges of murder were opened at Kwandengezi SAPS. The team worked tirelessly and gathered all the evidence required to secure a conviction court."

"Four men were arrested the following month, and the charges were later withdrawn against a 62-year-old man."
The Durban High Court sentenced Blessing Ngcobo and Enock Sithole to four life terms each.
Sithole was given an additional five years for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The third accused, Thelabantu Ngcobo, received two life sentences.
The police seized the murder weapons.
