Three KZN municipalities placed under administration
Three municipalities in KZN are now under administration.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Sipho Hlomuka introduced the uThukela and uMzinyathi District municipalities to their administrators.
Hlomuka announced this week, that eMadlangeni has also been placed under administration following allegations of fraudulent activities by councillors and municipal officials.
COGTA spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila said: "Hlomuka has appointed former HOD Simiso Magagula as the administrator of the uThukela district municipality and Themba Mavundla, also a former HOD, as administrator of uMzinyathi district municipality."
"The work expected from them would be to follow up on the challenges faced by these municipalities and ensure the municipalities achieve their fullest abilities", Mzila said.
