Three KZN cops nabbed for hijacking, diesel theft

Three police officers stationed at Brighton Beach SAPS on the Bluff south of Durban have been arrested on charges of truck hijacking and diesel theft.

The officers were nabbed yesterday for allegedly hijacking a truck driver in Rossburgh earlier this month.
The police's Thulani Zwane says six armed suspects accosted the driver before dumping him in Umbumbulu.
A case was opened the following day with the Durban Flying Squad recovering the vehicle in Jacobs Road.
Zwane says a security guard watching the place of discovery allegedly tried to shoot at police.
He was arrested and had his unlicensed firearm seized.
Zwane says the arrested officers have been linked to previous truck hijackings in February.
"We are expecting to make more arrests as well. The provincial commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the arrest of these three police officers.
"We are not going to tolerate corrupt officers in the force and we are appealing to other members who are involved in criminal activities they must stop otherwise they will be arrested," he said.
