Three people have lost their lives after a storm wreaked havoc in Margate.
According Med-Evac, the car the victims were in was swept off a bridge near Fiddlewood Farm on Sunday night.
The vehicle was found five kilometres away with the two adults and child still inside.
Ugu Municipality's spokesperson France Zama is one of the officials at the scene.
"We are currently conducting an on-site assessment in terms of the damage and I can indicate that there are bodies that have been discovered along the Margate area. Our rescue teams are [busy with rescue and recovery missions]. Areas around Margate have been hard hit by this storm."
An Orange Level 5 alert for disruptive rain remains for the extreme south-eastern part of KwaZulu-Natal.
Other areas in the south-east are on Yellow Level 2.
The South African Weather Service has also put out a Yellow Level 2 alert for severe storms over central and the western interior of the province on Monday and Tuesday.
It's warned of possible flooding, hail, excessive lightning and damaging winds.
