Three killed in Drakensberg crash

Three people have been killed in a collision involving a light
motor vehicle and a bakkie in the Drakensberg.
The vehicles collided on the R617 in the vicinity of the Bushmans Nek road this morning.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and found debris from the vehicles scattered across the road.
It is understood a father and his son died at the scene.

Three other people were critically hurt, while seven others sustained serious injuries.
Midlands EMS spokesperson Derrick Banks says a helicopter was used to transport two people to hospital.
The third critically injured patient had to be cut from the wreckage. She died en route to hospital, bringing the death toll to three.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
