Paramedics have been kept busy this weekend with 3 separate accidents claiming the lives of 3 people in and around Durban yesterday.
In the first incident, a man was knocked over on the N2 in the vicinity of Spaghetti Junction. Paramedics say he sustained critical injuries. He went into cardiac arrest and died while being transported to hospital by ambulance.
Paramedics initiated CPR but were unable to save him. A second man died on scene after being struck by a vehicle in Clare Road, in Durban. In the latest incident, a man was killed in a crash involving a bakkie on the N2 near Higginson Highway south of Durban.
Netcare911’s Athlenda Mathe says paramedics worked to try save his life.
"When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene they found the man lying on the road in a critical condition. The also found a paramedic from another emergency service administering CPR. This went on for 25 minutes," she said.
"Sadly there was nothing more they could do for the man and he was declared dead on on scene by the paramedics,"Mathe said.
