Three killed, 10 injured in north coast crash
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Three people have been killed after the vehicles they were travelling in collided in Mandeni, on the north coast last night.
KZN authorities are investigating after a bakkie and car collided head-on on the P45 near the steel bridge. One of the vehicles veered off the road.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says 10 other people were hurt - six seriously.
The two people had already died before medics reached the scene.
"One of the patients - in a critical condition - was still entrapped in the vehicle and metro had to use the jaws of life to free the patient. Upon extrication the patient unfortunately went into cardiac arrest and paramedics were unable to get her back. Two of the other patients sustained traumatic amputations to their legs," he said.
