ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says one driver had to be freed from the wreckage of his badly damaged vehicle.
"One patient, a male in his twenties, was severely entrapped in the wreckage and the Durban Fire Department had to use the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the patient free whilst ALS paramedics worked to stabilise the male inside the vehicle.
"He was then loaded into an awaiting ambulance and transported with his passenger through to a Durban hospital for the further care that he required. The driver of the second vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was also stabilised on scene before was transported to a hospital."
