Hostages released in Berea as police negotiators move in

SAPS negotiators were sent into a fast-food restaurant in Durban's Berea area on Tuesday to resolve an unfolding hostage situation.

There was a large contingency of police and security personnel outside the fast-food outlet on Tuesday afternoon.
The situation was described as tense as a small crowd of curious bystanders gathered outside of the cordoned-off area.

Earlier, Newswatch saw the suspect on the balcony, waving a knife, and bringing out hostages, before going back in.
Sources at the scene said she could possibly be an employee.
