Three deaths confirmed in Cape Cycle Tour
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Event organisers have confirmed another death following the Cape Town Cycle Tour at the weekend.
A statement released on behalf of director, David Bellairs, says a marshall has died after being admitted to hospital.
The marshall was stationed near a bend after a turn-off, towards the end of the race.
This comes after the deaths of two cyclists - one died at the scene of a pile-up of a group of 20 cyclists at the base of Wynberg Hill.
In a separate incident, another rider died after suffering a heart attack while cycling up a hill at Smitswinkel Bay.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not known at this stage and police are investigating.
Event organisers have extended their sincerest condolences.
