Three in custody for cell phone tower infrastructure theft

Three men who were caught with stolen cell phone tower infrastructure are to remain behind bars for the rest of the week.

Ashlen Govender, Thembinkosi Khumalo and Mohamed James have been charged with possession of suspected stolen property and tampering, interfering and damaging essential infrastructure.
National Prosecuting Authority in KZN’s Natasha Kara says the trio was nabbed over the weekend.
“The were found in possession of 18 cell phone tower batteries and 640 kilograms of cables. These have an estimated value of R1 million. The matter was remanded to 2 August for a formal bail application.”
