Three children die in Cape Town fire
Updated | By Heart FM News
Officials in Cape Town have confirmed that three children have died in a fire at a Valhalla Park children's home.
It's believed the two boys and girl were between the ages of 3 and 12.
City Fire and Rescue Service's Theo Layne says the fire wasn't a consequence of this week's Cape storm.
"The cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electric wiring that spread to the remainder of the structure. Fourteen firefighters, with four firefighting vehicles, took less than an hour to extinguish the blaze," he said.
It comes as the death toll from both the Cape Storm and Knysna fires in the Southern Cape has now risen to 10.
Twenty-four-year-old volunteer firefighter, Bradley Richards, died in hospital after sustaining serious burn wounds to 70% of his body.
