Three arrested in KZN for writing learner's licence exams for applicants
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Sipho Hlomuka has welcomed the arrest of three people allegedly involved in learner's licence fraud.
It follows an investigation that found applicants were paying jockeys to write the tests on their behalf.
The department says at least 20 learners' licenses issued at testing centres, including in Pinetown, Camperdown and Howick, have been cancelled.

Spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane says they are still working with police and hoping there'll be more arrests.
"MEC Sipho Hlomuka has further said the involvement of these jockeys at our testing stations and the fraudulent issuing of learners and drivers licenses is a contributing factor to driver incompetence and the high prevalence of accidents in the province.
"The MEC is calling on all road users and all examiners in our testing centres to reframe from corrupt activities and make sure that they do everything by the book."
