Thompson’s Bay reopens following sewerage spill
Updated | By AFP
KwaDukuza Municipality has given the all clear for the Thompson’s Bay Beach in Ballito to reopen to the public with immediate effect.

The municipality closed the beach on Monday due to a sewage spillage on the main stormwater channel discharge point.
It's understood the spillage was caused by prolonged power outages experienced in the Ballito area, which made sewerage pumps inoperable.
“We have received the water test results which confirmed the beaches are good for use and that is why we made a decision to open it as of today,” says KwaDukuza municipality's spokesperson Sipho Mkhize.
“And we also want to assure that the water test results do tell us that there was no other, further contamination from Thompson’s Bay to other beaches.”
