Thieves now targeting solar panels
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Thieves are turning their attention to solar panels, according to security company, Fidelity ADT.

The company's Charnel Hattingh says they have received numerous reports about solar panel theft happening during the day when homeowners are at work.
Hattingh is advising residents who are targeted to make sure they report the thefts to the police and take other measures.
"Ensure that your yard is well-lit at all times, and that you have barriers security installed like electric fences, beams, sensor lights and burglar bars.
"Installing quality CCTV cameras will also help your security company and SAPS with investigations and also deter opportunist criminals."
More and more South Africans are considering solar as an alternative source of energy for their homes and businesses as load shedding has become a daily occurrence.
Eskom has over the last couple of months intensified the rolling blackouts as it battles frequent unit breakdowns and diesel shortages.
