Nine killed in horror crash near Port Shepstone

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal crash on the N2 near Port Shepstone on the south coast that claimed the lives of nine people last night.

Provincial emergency services say as many as 12 people were hurt in the carnage near Umzumbe.
Three taxis were involved in the collision that led to the closure of the N2 for some time - motorists had to bypass the scene using the R102.

Meanwhile 13 people who survived a horrific bus crash in Nkandla at the weekend are still in hospital with some in a critical condition.
Fifteen people were killed when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle near the Ntunjambili area - causing it to crash into a tree and overturn.
Kwanele Ncalane, spokesperson for KZN Transport, says MEC Mxolisi Kaunda met with the bereaved families who went to a mortuary to identify the bodies of their loved ones yesterday.
