Temporary voting stations for storm-damaged areas in KZN
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Independent Electoral Commission says it's set up temporary facilities in areas where voting stations were damaged during recent storms in KZN and Gauteng.

The IEC is preparing for its second voter registration drive this weekend.
The commission's CEO, Sy Mamabolo, says they've been working with disaster management teams.
"We are also working with infrastructure task teams to ensure that we are able to restore to an operational condition infrastructure that was destroyed."
In response to possible protests during the registration process, the IEC has also beefed up security.

"Certainly, we are aware that there are areas of tension. Those areas have been identified, and there have been agreements about additional steps that will be taken,” said the commission's Geraldene Carol Chaplog-Louw.
She said they are aware there are South Africans living abroad who are experiencing issues with the online registration process.
"Some of the people are not in a position where they access the embassy and facilities very easily and are not familiar with the online portal. So, we are very keen that they continue to register using the online portal."
