Teen fatally struck by car in Umhlanga

A teenage girl has lost her life after she was struck down by a vehicle in Umhlanga.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst says the 13-year-old was with friends celebrating a birthday on Wednesday.
She attempted to make her way across using the M41 bridge crossing when she was hit.

"Reports indicate that a group of children celebrating a friend's birthday at a nearby shopping centre were on their way home when a 13-year-old female was struck down by a light motor vehicle, while crossing the road.
"Medics assessed the scene and found that the patient showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.”
