Community members managed to get the body to an area in the middle of the river.
Search and Rescue members were called in and used a Rescue Stokes Basket to carry the body to the nearest roadway.
The body was handed over to Kwandengezi police who have opened an Inquest docket.
The National Sea Rescue Institute has urged bathers to exercise caution as we approach the Summer season.
The institute's Craig Lambinon says parents also need to make sure that children have adult supervision when they go swimming.
"Whether its a swimming pool at home or going to the beach or the river or any body of water, you need to have a safety conscious mind and prepare for the day.
"Before you go have the emergency numbers saved o your phone but also don't go too deep into the water, don't drink alcohol and then go swimming," he said.
