Teen arrested following Verulam hit and run incident
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy as part of their investigations into a suspected hit and run incident in Verulam, that left a pedestrian hospitalised.
The man was crossing George Sewpersadh Street yesterday, when he was hit by a car and suffered multiple injuries.
The driver allegedly tried to evade a local security company after the crash but was eventually handed over to police.
"A 17-year-old suspect was fined for failing to produce a driver's licence as well as driving an unlicensed vehicle. He is due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on September 2," Gwala said.

Gwala says Verulam SAPS are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
"I would like to warn people who drive without a driver's licenses to make sure that they don't drive vehicles. Parents must make sure that they don't give their children vehicles if they know that they don't have a licence to drive that vehicle. They are putting their lives in danger and the lives of other road users."
