says water engineers are working around the clock to restore water supply to
the eSikhaleni area.

A local water treatment plant caught alight on Saturday night, leaving residents in the township and other parts of Vulindlela, Felixton and Madlankala, Gobandlovu, Mkhwanazi north and south with very little or no water.
Mayor Xolani Ngwezi says all the plant's interconnecting cables for generators, a transformer and the control panels for dewatering pumps were burnt.
He says water tanks will be sent out to the affected areas.

"I feel pained and wish to inform all our residents, who get water through the pumping line of Cubhu Lake, that we have had water interruptions because the transformer that supplies electricity to the pumps caught fire.
“Our employees are on the ground together with the contractor that has been appointed to assist in the fixing of this transformer.”
