Teachers back at school today, prepare for pupils' safe return
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
Education officials are hoping for a smooth start to the first term, as teachers make their way back to school this morning.

They will prepare for the arrival of pupils in 15 days.
The Department of Basic Education introduced the staggered approach last month, to minimise the risk of infection during South Africa's second COVID-19 wave.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says there haven't been any issues so far, "There is no indication that we might experience a problem or any challenges but we will be monitoring in case there are problems."

We are expecting all teachers can report to work.
Mahlambi says if teachers have medical challenges, they know the procedure to apply for the leave.
PPEs have been made available to all schools, "As we open with school management, already districts and schools have received their PPE's and when the learners come we will distribute."
