Teacher accused of feeding Verulam pupils ‘pet mince’
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal is investigating allegations of food poisoning at a Verulam school.

The probe comes after media reports claimed that a teacher allegedly cooked pet mince and served it in a soup to children in the north Durban Primary school.
It's believed the children got sick after eating the food.

The department's Muzi Mahlambi says they are working closely with the Health Department in the investigations.
"If there is wrong-doing that will be found, we will definitely not hesitate to deal with that. But at this point in time, we are calling for calm and to be given space to deal with this matter.”
