Taxi owner gunned down outside Verulam home

KwaZulu-Natal police have launched an investigation after a 49-year-old man was gunned down outside his home in Verulam, north of Durban.

Officials say he was sitting in a vehicle when he was shot multiple times on Nkululeko Road in Waterloo on Tuesday night.
Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called to the scene.

RUSA spokesperson Prem Balram said: "Reaction offices were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found a male slumped in a Toyota Corrola.
"Paramedics were dispatched to assist and declared the man deceased. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was later identified as a taxi owner."
A case of murder has been opened.
