Taxi fares to go up from next next week Monday
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Taxis commuters must brace themselves for more expensive trips from next week.
Taxi operators have decided to increase taxi fares from Monday. The increase follows the recent fuel price hikes. Talks of a mass taxi strike have also been doing the rounds. However, the KZN Taxi Alliance's Bafana Mhlongo says they are no true.
He says any strike would be communicated in advance.
He says regular fuel price hikes are having an impact on their running costs hence the decision to push up taxi fares.
"Yes, there will be an increase of taxi fares", he said.
"In fact the increase will come into effect from the 2nd of July", Mhlongo said.
