Taxi drivers strike in PMB CBD over traffic fines

Police are at the scene of a taxi strike in the vicinity of the Pietermaritzburg CBD.

Taxi drivers have blocked various access points to the city, including Moses Mabhida Road near Edendale.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the drivers are upset over traffic fines.
"This morning, the taxi drivers blockaded Moses Mabhida Road, in the Edendale area. They blockaded the road with their taxis and rubble. They are complaining about traffic fines. The situation is quiet at the moment," she says.
Motorists are being urged to use alternate routes to avoid the affected areas.
