Officials say his minibus taxi was turning into Eddie Hagan Drive when he and a passenger came under fire from occupants of another vehicle yesterday.

The 27-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to the head and body.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the shooting shortly after half past 7 in the evening.

Midlands EMS says the man was declared dead on the scene after several attempts to resuscitate him.

A second person - a woman - suffered minor injuries when the taxi overturned. She was treated and taken to a nearby hospital.

It's the third incident involving a taxi operator in KZN in the space of a week.

On Wednesday, a 40-year-old taxi boss was gunned down in Shakaskraal while sitting his car outside a shop.

On Friday, another taxi owner was shot and wounded in Mariannhill.
