Taxi crash victim's husband urges commuters to put safety first

The husband of one of the victims of last week's Shakaskraal crash is advising passengers not to board overloaded taxis.

Thula Ntsetha's 35-year-old wife Nothando was among eight people who died after the minibus they were in crashed down an embankment off the R102.
The taxi was carrying 23 passengers.
Ntsetha says he and their two children are still in shock about Nothando's death.

A memorial service was held for her in KwaDukuza on Thursday.
"At the end of the day both parties are wrong because even the passengers to as well, they were supposed not to get into an overloaded taxi.
"Going forward, the Department of Transport must give people fines when they find someone standing in a taxi give them a R500 fine and a harsh warning to drivers who continue to do such horrible things," he said.
