Take advantage of the 21-day licence renewal period
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
KZN Motorists are being urged to renew their car licenses on time to avoid an unwelcome run-in with the law during the festive season.

That is according to the South African Post Office, who says car owners must ensure their vehicles are road-worthy and registered before heading out on a much-anticipated trip.

Durban Metro police's Sibonelo Mchunu is also calling on motorists to be responsible and renew their licences at any local post office once a year.
Speaking to Newswatch, Mchunu says motorists should also take advantage of the 21-day period after the actual expiry date to renew your car licence.
"It's a period where the Department of Transport is giving you time to go and sort out. Let's say your licence expires today, you will not be given a fine up until December 21. I would urge motorists to comply with all legislation not only this one," he said.
