Suspended unmasked Newcastle workers return to work

The Newcastle municipal workers who were caught without masks at work have had their suspensions lifted.
The 15 employees were given 48 hours to plead their case or face disciplinary processes.
Some of the workers who were suspended at the weekend returned to work on Tuesday morning.

Municipal spokesperson, Mlungisi Khumalo says some returned to work this morning following intensive discussions.
"Most of the staff members who received their precautionary suspension letters have after thorough self-introspection acknowledged the severity of their offence.
"We have now taken into consideration. And know going forward we send a strong message both to the public and to our staff members that we are serious about fighting the Covid-19 pandemic."
