Police in KZN says the unlicensed firearms found in a car following a shootout with two suspects in Umlazi have been sent for ballistics testing.
Officers from the Umlazi K9 Unit were patrolling when they noticed a suspicious vehicle on Monday.
Police said when the officers tried to stop the car, one of the two occupants jumped out and started shooting at the cops.

The officers fired back, but the suspects fled towards the Uganda informal settlement, abandoning the vehicle.
"Suspects who used high-calibre rifles then retreated and fled to the main road. The SAPS K9 Unit members recovered several firearms in the wanted vehicle and an undisclosed amount of ammunition," said SAPS spokesperson Carmen Rhynes.
“A firearm is known to be a weapon of choice for committing serious and violent crimes. All the recovered firearms will be subjected to a ballistic test to determine whether they can be linked to other serious crimes."
