Suspected robber shot dead by Durban police

A suspected
robber has been killed and another left injured in a shootout with police in
KwaMashu, north of Durban.

Police
spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says officers were conducting an operation at the
KwaMashu Hostel when they received information of an armed robbery near the
railway station on Thursday night.
Mbhele says officers proceeded to the area and were given the description of the armed men.
“While the officers were searching for the suspects near B Section, they came under a hail of bullets. The police returned fire and one suspect was fatally wounded. A 23-year-old was shot and rushed to hospital for medical attention under police guard,” she said.

Mbhele says the injured suspect will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and the illegal possession of firearms once discharged from hospital.Show's Stories
