Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A suspected rhino poacher is behind bars after he was arrested in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Police say the suspect was traced by police and community service centre members in Magudu yesterday.
National SAPS spokesperson, Katlego Mohale says officers are continuing with their investigation.
"No rhino was reported [harmed]. Therefore, the investigation will continue throughout the game farm to check if there is any animal that was killed. The suspect had a panga, axe and rifle. These are tools usually used in rhino poaching."
Last week, the Department of Environmental Affairs said 769 rhino were slaughtered for their horns last year.
In KwaZulu-Natal, 142 rhino were killed.
