Suspected KZN jewellery heist gang leader nabbed
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
KZN police have made a breakthrough in the recent spate of shopping centre robberies in the province.

They've arrested two suspects, one of them thought to be the leader of one of the gangs behind some of the jewellery heists at malls.
KZN police's Jay Naicker says they have been tracking the suspected gang leader for while.
"Last night, police pounced on two residences in Umlazi, which were suspected to be used as hideouts by these criminals. During the operation, two suspects were arrested including the leader of one of the gangs. It is believed that this gang targeted shops that sold jewellery and wrist watches," he said.
Naicker says the suspects have been linked to at least three of the robberies that have taken place.
During the raids, officers also recovered watches, perfume and other goods, which police say were stolen during the robberies.
