Suspected Durban human traffickers to remain behind bars

A Durban man and woman lined up in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning on human trafficking charges.
The two are also facing charges of kidnapping, rape, keeping a brothel and contravention of the Immigration Act.
They were arrested in Malvern, south of Durban, on Monday.

Police received information about a woman who alleged that she had been raped and held against her will in a house in the area, which was later discovered to be a brothel.
"Their appearance relates to the luring and alleged kidnapping of a woman, who was taken to a house in Durban," says KZN National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara.
"She was held captive, raped and forced to have sexual intercourse with other people. The pair were remanded into custody till 16 September 2022, for a bail application."
