Suspected cholera case in Eastern Cape
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Eastern Cape Health Department has confirmed an isolated case of suspected cholera.
Officials say a 47-year-old woman from Walmer has since been admitted at Livingstone Hospital, pending test results from the NICD.
They say she attended a funeral a week ago and has not travelled outside the city.
Eastern Cape spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, says they've activated a highly trained outbreak response team as a precautionary measure.

Kupelo says the team will work with the municipality to conduct contact tracing.
"She presented with cholera symptoms and is currently on treatment in a stable condition. The team will work with municipal officials to conduct awareness campaigns.
"This is a precautionary measure and the department wishes to emphasize that there has been no other case of suspected cholera."
