Suspected child trafficker wanted by Interpol nabbed in Jozini
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
A 40-year-old man will be appearing in the Durban Regional Court on Friday, facing charges of human trafficking and rape.
The Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal say the Swazi national was arrested yesterday in Jozini on suspicion of abduction after three children aged 5, 7 and 13 went missing in Swaziland last year.
A case was opened then in Mbabane.
Spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says they were contacted by Interpol last week about the man and his whereabouts.
The children were rescued last week and taken to a place of safety.
It was found that the 13-year-old girl was also raped and has since given birth to a baby who is now a few months old.
Mhlongo says they need the help of communities to curb such crimes against children.
