Support needed for women in agriculture: expert
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Social scientists believe there is gender inequality in agriculture and want governments to address this.

Speaking at the World Social Science Forum in Durban yesterday, development expert Sibulelo Poswayo said women are responsible for more than half of food produce in Africa yet they are still mainly found in the lower parts of the agricultural value chain.
"Is there a potential for women to feed the world? There is a potential but there's a need for empowerment, inclusion of women in terms of development, financing in all sectors that pertain to water, agriculture from farm to fork," she said.
The forum is drawing to a close today. Durban ICC
