Students calls for mass shutdown of KZN varsities
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Student leaders are calling for the mass shutdown of
universities across KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow.
Posters shared widely on social media say activities will not be allowed to continue until all students have been cleared for registration and accommodation plans have been finalised.
Sanele Hlongwa is with the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s SRC.
“The majority of students will not be able to register. That is why we are saying the universities must stop with their activities until the problem is addressed,” he said.
Hongwa says issues with national student funding scheme, NSFAS means many students battle to register.
