Strong winds knock out power in Durban
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
eThekwini Municipality says officials are working to restore power to areas whose supply was knocked out by strong winds on Sunday.
It says some of the electricity infrastructure has been damaged, and teams were still assessing the extent of the damage on Monday morning.
"Our teams are working diligently to evaluate the damage, restore power as quickly and safely as possible and repair and replace damaged infrastructure,” the city said in a statement.
The city has warned some repairs may take longer depending on the damage.

Affected areas include Canelands, KwaDabeka J, Northdene and KwaMakhutha.
Durbanites told Newswatch they couldn't believe what they were seeing during yesterday's winds.
One Umhlanga resident said she was terrified.
"Within a matter of minutes, the wind just got so aggressive and wild. We went outside to check on the clothes we hung, and they were all on the floor. Our line broke, and our roof panel was lifting. It was a very scary experience."
