Strong winds destroy 130 homes in Zululand

Disaster teams are in the Zululand District, where destructive winds have damaged scores of homes.

Strong winds buffeted three local municipalities.
At least 130 homes have been damaged, and 22 completely destroyed.
Officials say more than 700 people have been affected.
No deaths or injuries have been reported.

KZN Department of Cooperative Governance's Siboniso Mngadi says the team has been on site since Friday when the winds blew in.
"The winds ravaged homes in the Abaqulusi Local Municipality - Vryheid, Ulundi Local Municipality, and eDumbe Local Municipality. Two schools, Mongowenzeni Primary and Bantubaningi High, were also impacted.
"The MEC has coordinated with other departments such as Social Development, Human Settlements and Education to coordinate the assistance that will be needed from government to assist the victims."
