Strong leads in Sun City prison break
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has released the identities of the 16 awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the Johannesburg Correctional Centre on Monday.
The department says it is following up strong leads as it attempts to re-arrest the 16 suspects who escaped from the prison, commonly referred to as 'Sun City'.
A massive manhunt has been launched but the department's Singabakho Nxumalo says they have not yet managed to track down any of them.
Seven out of the 16 prisoners are facing charges of murder, while three were arrested for rape and five for robbery.
Nxumalo says while the department is asking for the public's help, he says the detainees are dangerous and the public must not try and apprehend them.
