Striking eThekwini workers granted bail

Thirteen municipal workers arrested during protests in eThekwini have been granted bail.
They appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges of public violence, tampering, damaging and destroying essential infrastructure.
“The charges relate to an incident that occurred on 4 March, where they allegedly blocked the road with rocks and rubbish and burned tyres and bins," says NPA KZN spokesperson Natasha Kara.

"The state is also alleging that they damaged municipal bins and Durban Solid Waste fencing.
"Bail was set at R2000 each, and the case was remanded to 10 May 2024 for further investigation."
