Strike not affecting SA Post Office operations

The SA Post Office says it's operating as normal even though many of its employees have downed tools.
Workers belonging to the Communication Workers Union are striking over pay.
They want a 12% salary increase, more sick leave and a housing subsidy.
The post office's Mark Barnes says, at this point, they can't afford to give workers the pay hikes they're asking for.

He says contingency plans are in place to ensure that services continue uninterrupted.
"The strike is primarily an industry-wide strike - and not specifically at SAPO. We have communicated to all our stakeholders - including staff and customers and the regulator," he says.
The strike is expected to affect SENTECH and Broadband Infraco.
